With a certified forest area of more than 200 million hectares PEFC, the worlds largest forest organisation, has made it their mission, to rebuild and ensure a forest area ecosystem for all following generations. Since the foundation of the PEFC organisation in Germany in the year 1999 more than 7 million hectares, approximately two thirds of the complete forest area have been certified. The most important standards are: support of mixed forest species which are common to the area. Forbid clear cutting. Restrict the use of chemical pesticides. Independent certifying institutes survey and check all regulations in periodical intervals.
